Comfort Food; Home made chicken noodle soup

Copyright by The Old School Housewife
My husband is home sick today so I made him chicken noodle soup.  My mother taught me how to make it.  Not that it's all that hard, in fact, it's really easy.

This is a very moist banana bread.  I've been using this recipe every since I started baking about 40 years ago.  Enjoy!

Just Because; I named them Frankie and Rachel,

I put these little scarecrows in my front flower garden and named them Frankie and Rachel.  lol  I don't know if my husband will appreciate that, but I think it's cute.

My Grandchildren; Spending time with Britney, so nice.

I love spending time with my grandchildren.  Today Britney decided she wanted to come over and spend the night and tomorrow.  Of course, I was so happy about that.  I think it's so nice that my grandchildren like to come over grandpa's and grandma's house.  I thank God for my family.

Recipe of the Week; Fresh Tomato Clam Sauce

Copyright by The Old School Housewife

Copyright by The Old School Housewife
I'm giving this recipe *** because it was the best red clam sauce I ever made and my husband actually liked it.  It was simple to make too.  Fresh tomatoes which we still have from the yard, gave it a great taste.  I got the idea in a small cook book but I revised it so much that I'm calling it my own.

Tips; Sun flowers are inviting

Copyright by The Old School Housewife
Remember I said that darker colors and candles make a house feel warm and inviting?  Well, flowers do the same thing.  At this time of the year, Sun Flowers are one of my favorite.  They are so perfect looking they almost look fake, but are real.  I love Sun Flowers and find it hard to grow them because the birds love them even more. lol  So, I buy them instead.

There have been a lot of changes in Pittston recently.  All very good changes.  One of them I especially love are the murals you see painted at different spots through out town.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Food; Saturday's dinner, simple but good

Copyright by The Old School Housewife
Sometimes the simplest dinners come out the best.  A chuck roast in the slow cooker and roast potatoes and carrots and a tomato salad and the rolls were already baked and frozen, I just had to heat them in the oven.  There was only 3 pieces of potatoes left.

Recipe of the Week; Crabmeat Casserole

Copyright by The Old School Housewife
This recipe came from a very old local cookbook.  I gave it ** because it tasted good, the kids liked it, but did not love it.  Three stars *** is reserved for recipes that we "love".  You may feel differently about it.  So give it a try.

My Grandchildren; Olivia combed her hair and put blush on her cheeks.

Olivia went upstairs and came down with her hair all combed and a little blush on her cheeks.  Doesn't she look pretty?  Her and Alexis are relaxing in the back room.  Britney is home sick today.

Gardening; Is it that time already? Still hard work!

Copyright by The Old School Housewife
It seems like we just planted the garden, or should I say my husband planted it.  I handed him the plants.  Now, it's time to dismantle already and it just as much hard work.  He still has to be on his knees to clear out all the dead plants and weeds.
 A new day/season is dawning.
