42 years ago one of the worst natural disasters this country has ever seen took place right here in Wyoming Valley.  It was the flood of 1972 from a hurricane called Agnes.  My first born was only 6 months old at the time.  I will never forget that Saturday morning when my husband, baby and I were still asleep and the phone rang and my mother said, "what do you thing about the flood?"  I said, "what flood?"  She told me the whole valley was flooded and when I told my husband, he said, "probably a few cellars."  lol    Well, we got up, had breakfast and my husband went out and came back 15 minutes later and said, "I can't explain it, you have to see it."  So, with baby in arms, there were no laws about car seats at that time, we went for a ride through Main Street, Jenkins Twp. and way before we got to the 8th Street bridge; nothing but water, as far as the eyes could see.  We just stood there with some other people, not even knowing what to say, everyone was just in shock.  And to think all that was going on all night and we knew nothing about it.  Thank God for the strength and heart He gave the people to pull themselves together and start all over.  It never effected us personally but it did thousands of other people.  Wyoming Valley was soon knows as the Valley With A Heart.
