Gardening; What to do with oregano

Copyright by The Old School Housewife

Oregano is a staple in an Italian kitchen.  I use it in so many dishes, especially in home made spaghetti sauce and pizza sauce.  But you can save money by growing it in your garden, drying it and crumbling it and saving it in a little glass jar with a lid.  If you can't find one like the above use very small canning jars and label them.  There is nothing like knowing that you grew the ingredients yourself.  I do the same thing with basil, mint, Italian parsley, Rosemary and dill. Every other year I grow sage and that dries really well also.  If you have to buy all of these, it can be expensive.  You can also grow them in little pots on your kitchen windowsill and use them fresh all year.  They smell wonderful.
