Recipe of the Week; Strawberry Lemondade

Copyright by The Old School Housewife

This recipe of courtesy of Ree Drummond, The Pioneer Woman, of the Food Network channel.
I watched her make it and it looked so refreshing, I had to try it.  It was delicious and you could taste little bits of strawberries in it.  Put lots of ice in your glass, and a sprig of fresh mint; it was rated with ***.  It makes a lot so you might want to make half of the recipe at first.

Strawberry Lemonade
2 pints of strawberries, hulled and halved
3 cups sugar
2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice (from 8 to 10 lemons)
Sprig of fresh mint

In a blender, puree the strawberries with 1 cup of the sugar and 1 cup of water.

In a large container, mix together 11 cups water, the reaming 2 cups sugar, the lemon juice and strawberry mixture.  Stir and taste, adding more sugar in you like.  Refrigerate until well chilled.  We noticed a fresh sprig of mint in the glass cut a little of the sweetness and gave it a kick.

  1. Yummy! The kids love lemonade, so I'll have to give this a try.
