Recipe of the Week; The Ultimate Barbecued Chicken

Copyright of The Old School Housewife

This recipe is courtesy of Tyler Florence from the Food Network Channel.  I did change a few ingredients, however, either because I didn't have them or simply didn't want to use them.  He used bacon and I didn't want to, so I eliminated it and I used  a little liquid smoke for the smokey taste instead; also I used dried thyme instead of fresh and honey and pure maple syrup instead of molasses.  Any time you see a recipe, you can follow it but change a few things to make it your own.  This chicken was delicious and I gave it ***, mostly because my husband, who doesn't like sweet foods, really liked it.

I just love birds.  I can't help it so when I see birds I have to take their picture.  It isn't easy because they fly away as soon as you move.  The first one is a robin cleaning himself in my Dogwood tree, just starting to bloom.  The middle two are a female a male cardinal.  She was alone then started to whistle and then he appeared.  The bottom one is just one of those little brown birds.  He was swinging away like a little child on that feeder; so cute.

Home Life; House Work I Enjoy

The first time this year I was able to hang clothes on the line.  This is one of the chores I like to do.  I know, no big deal, but not everyone does it anymore, just us 'old school housewives' and if you take a trip to Lancaster County, you will see all the Amish with their clothes hanging on the line.  I love it.  The sun bleaches the whites, the air deodorizes them and the wind irons them.  What's not to like?? Plus it's good exercise.

Recipe of the Week; Mocha Brownies from The Pioneer Woman

This recipe is from The Pioneer Woman but instead of adding the 3 tablespoons of vanilla in the batter and the icing I only added 1 tablespoon and it was still delicious.

This is Alexis' dance recital. She's the one in the blue dress and pony tail.  Dance is actually a subject in her school and they get graded on this recital.  They are seniors and juniors here.  It was cute to watch, they looked like they were having a lot of fun.
