It is week one of my project.  As you can see they still have not germinated and are now sitting in little 3 oz. paper cups to hold them up.  I just watered them and will cover them and wait some more.

Recipe Of The Week

Like I said, I like to collect recipes and try a new one every week on my family.  We rate them together, but this one I rated myself, it was delicious.  Blueberry Streusel Muffins, they aren't too sweet, just sweet enough and very moist, so I rated them with three stars which stands for excellent.

BLUEBERRY STREUSEL MUFFINS
Muffin Batter:
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 egg
2 1/3 cup flour
1 tablespn. + 1 teaspn. baking powder
1 cup milk
1 teaspn. vanilla
1 1/2 cup fresh blueberries

Blueberry Streusel Topping
1/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup flour
1/2 teaspn. cinnamon
1/2 cup butter

To prepare topping combine sugar, flour and cinnamon in a small bowl.  Cut in butter until mixture resembles crumbs, set aside.

Preheat oven to 375.  In a large bowl, combine the sugar and butter, creaming until  light.  Add the egg, mixing well.  In a separate bowl, combine the flour and baking powder, add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk, stirring well after each addition.  Stir in vanilla and blueberries (dust the blueberries with a little flour so they don't sink to the bottom of the muffins).  Spoon into muffin pans filling each 2/3 full.  Sprinkle Streusel topping over muffins.  Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until done.  Makes 16 to 18 muffins.

I love gardening too.  My husband and I plant a vegetable garden and flowers all around the house.  I heard of this idea to plant your seeds in ice cream cones and then you could just plant the cone and plants right in the ground.  It sounded like a good idea so I tried it.  The first picture is day one.  By the third day, after I watered just a little, the cones gut all mushy, as you can see.  I'm not giving up on them though, I want to see if they will last till planting time.  I planted squash, green beans and carrots, so I hope it works.  I'll take more pictures as they progress to let you know if it's worth it to do.

These are the antipasto dishes my daughter, Shelly made up for me on Christmas Eve, 2013.  She makes them up for me every year. I think she is very talented, they look so pretty and very appetizing.  We have about 30 people every year and this is all gone by the end of the evening.

My Grandchildren

By Rachel of The Old School Housewife
We are a family of girls, except for my husband of course and now my sons-in-law.  I have two daughters and three granddaughters.  This is their picture.  Britney, the oldest, is on the left and Alexis, her sister, is on the right.   They are the children of my oldest daughter, Rachelle, nicknamed Shelly.  The little girl in front is Olivia, she is the child of my youngest daughter, Marinda.  They are the pride and joy of my husband and I.  I had a lot more patience with my grandchildren growing up then with my children when they were growing up.  I guess because I got smarter.  Every grandparent knows what I'm talking about.  My mother told me that would happen.  It happened to her too.
