My Family; Grandpa and Britney

Copyright by The Old School Housewife
I have to give equal opportunity to all our grandchildren.  We love them all the same.  This is one of my favorite pictures of Britney and my husband.  When she was a baby he called her "Sweetsy" and she still is his "sweetsy". She's grown up now and beautiful.

My husband, "grandpa", loves all his grandchildren.  Here he is putting a puzzle together with Olivia, our youngest granddaughter.  She stayed overnight with us, last Saturday.  We enjoyed every minute of her.  She makes us laugh.

Will Lexi follow in her grandpa's footsteps and become a firefighter?  Probably not, but it's fun to pretend and fun to take pictures of.

Dessert; Pumpkin Mousse Pie

Copyright by The Old School Housewife
This recipe started out a Weight Watcher's mousse recipe, no crust or whipped topping on top.  I turned it into a pie and not sugar or fat free.  It's still not too fattening.   It is really delicious and light and creamy and no baking needed.  I used a bought graham cracker crust, you could make your own, though.  It's a really good dessert to bring when you are invited somewhere and anyone who loves pumpkin will love this pie.

My Family; A picture of all the cousins, well most of them anyhow.

I love this picture of all the girl cousins.  I'm so glad I belong to a family that love each other.  They get together every year on Labor Day too for breakfast.  This occasion was my niece, Michelle's, 50th birthday.  You would never guess it though, she still looks like a young girl.  Marissa in front is still waiting for baby Declan to be born.  My daughters and granddaughters are in there too along with all my nieces. Thank you girls for allowing this picture to be taken.  Love you all!

Can you tell by now that I love seashells?  I know it's not a Fall theme but they are in my bathroom and I love them.  As you can see I even found a clock with seashells in them.  They are one of nature's prettiest finds in the sand near the ocean.  A place I love but only saw a few times in my life and probably will never see again.  So, I surround myself with it's product.  They make me feel good just to look at them and hold  and examine them.  They are like people in the fact that they each have their own distinct features and that makes them unique.  Do you have something of nature that you love too? I would love to hear about it.

Food; My Family's Favorite Tripe

Copyright by The Old School Housewife

The cooler weather makes me think of foods I don't cook all summer.  There are a number of them, but today Tripe is the dish.  It's one of those dishes that either you love it or hate it.  We love it.  The soft chewy texture can be compared to cooked calamari but less rubbery.  It takes on the flavor of the sauce it's cooked in.  There are other ways of making tripe but for me and my family it's always made with Italian tomato sauce.  You must have a loaf of crusty Italian bread to dip in the sauce.  Mangiare buono!
